Why bother?

why do we even bother making the world a better place, when we all know it will go [[[BOOM]]] anyways? ok not exactly %26quot;boom%26quot;, but i mean it will end one day. We%26#039;re not exactly these super advanced species that are above others. we%26#039;re all just living here as tiny specks in this vast universe. Anyways, why do we bother helping the earth become %26quot;better%26quot;?.. and if you don%26#039;t support a cause, why do you keep living when in the end what you did wouldn%26#039;t matter as much since you%26#039;ll end up dying anyways. it may be remembered by family and close friends, but fast forward a few generations and you got nothing.
Why bother?
I livelive for sunrises. And poetry. Puppies, flowers, and the when my niece laughs. I live for conflict, and the triumph of good or evil.

What we do always matters. It doesn%26#039;t have to affect society as a whole. Just live your life to be happy. It%26#039;s the only--and the most amazing--gift you and I have been given.
Why bother?
Depending on your own personal beliefs, I believe we are part of a grand equation. Whether or not you feel significant, it is our existence that is a variable that affects the future. It might be your existence might spark the birth of something grander even if you feel that you have not contributed to anything now. It%26#039;s not about being better, but being part of the whole grand scheme of things. All of our significance in anything may seem minute, but if a small thing like accidently making beer, someone discovers how to make bread, your significance started a chain of events that evolves to what it is.

Even the smallest creatures on the planet can make a difference, but we should focus on living and doing what we feel is right, not to try and make others feel better.
Reply:Nobody knows when the world will end. We each are made for a purpose to be here. It is up to you to find your pupose and make the best of each day. You never know how one little act of kindness will effect not just one person but several. Watch the move Playing it forward with Kevin Spacey. That will make you think.

Some times it is best just to find beauty in today for tomorrow takes care of itself and yesterday is gone. Worrying about the whole picture dimishes the little joys that come our way.
Reply:You have a point. But do you really want to be part of the problem or die fighting to make a positive difference in the world? Maybe we are beyond hope, maybe we are doomed. But I will not be one of the mentally lame that walks, dumb as sheep into that dark, good night of death without doing everything humanly possible to make my tiny corner of the world, and life here better for as many as I can. Whining is easy, and accomplishes nothing, action can work miracles. We should not be in this world to be remembered and famous. We are in this world to do well by ourselves and others, simply for the sake of knowing that when we do pop off the mortal coil, we did it with dignity intact and some style. Understand?
Reply:Maybe it is best to remember that you can only make your own little tiny space in this world the best you. We can hardly do much about global issues, war or even who is elected. What we can do however is make our space a happy and loving place. It is said that if we practice doing the next right thing that it will become innate in us ( paraphrasing Aristotle). Doing our own RAK (random acts of kindness) and being the best we can, finding our own happiness, maybe that is all there is. It is easy enough to give up on the world and think that man has no place here, but in truth you will find that there are other people doing the same thing. trying to make their piece of the world a little better place and being the best example of a human being you can be.
Reply:because the worse the earth gets then the closer it gets

to going %26quot;boom%26quot; as you call it. in religous beliefs people believe that god is going to come back. well i have a million different opinions and views on the whole concept. honestly i don%26#039;t believe that. i believe that we will eventually use up all resources thus killing ourselves to our own extinction. but the reason why people like to save the earth is because it will help us live longer and leave the world a better place for our kids. and you said why keep living if the world is coming to an end anyway? i%26#039;m not exactly sure what you mean by this but why not? why not keep living? if the world does come to an end wouldn%26#039;t that be kind of cool to watch? and it wouldn%26#039;t matter anyway because supposably all souls of the dead rise up again either to hell or heaven. so either way you%26#039;re going to be here whether you like it or not. and in other meanings of what you asked why kill yourself now when the world may not end for another 1,000 years. and then you say it may be remembered by fast forward generations but you got nothing. well i%26#039;m not selfish and think about myself. i want this world to be better for the more people coming into this world as others are leaving. who the heck cares if i get nothing out of it all i want is the smile on my face knowing that i helped. that%26#039;s worth a million things to me.

I know it%26#039;s been far too long in stormy weather

My arrested hope won%26#039;t choke forever

Like a memory I needed never

We walk wrapped in thought

Some are vacant some have grown too short

It%26#039;s the only thing I%26#039;ve ever had that keeps me lonely

In the sun we are found to be

Reflections of a sound

When nobody is around

Come down from the waist of time

Feel so empty when I feel so fine

Starting over we could change this light shadow sober

I%26#039;ve been waiting for far too long

Let%26#039;s stick together

Coz you%26#039;re keeping me warm but it%26#039;s a lonely setting sun

I wait so long now my head is full of pressure

I need time to cure my mind

It%26#039;s like a loop that lasts forever

I%26#039;ve been waiting for far too long

Let%26#039;s stick together

Reply:1 Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.

Try to experience perfection.
Reply:some people behave like they really understand it becuase they are supposed to care,., it is amusing i think!
Reply:I%26#039;ve thought about that a lot. Why bother trying to make the world a better place? It%26#039;s not like anyone is going to remember us when we die except maybe for family and friends, but in the end no one will care or know who you were. So I agree, what%26#039;s the point? Why bother?

I believe that most people don%26#039;t think about that, or most don%26#039;t really care. We%26#039;re selfish beings and should only care about now. We should only care about ourselves, what we want now, and not think about the point of everything we do. But obviously the people like us who do think about it. But why think about it? I think %26quot;What%26#039;s the point? It%26#039;s not like I%26#039;m going to have an impact or affect the future, no one will remember me, so what%26#039;s the point?%26quot;

Humans care about now, not how great or bad the future will be because they don%26#039;t care, they won%26#039;t be there when the world goes BOOM!
Reply:You sound like a nihilist and there is nothing wrong with that. A nihilist by the way is someone who finds the world and life pretty much pointless.

However, with that, the point is up to you. by evolution purpose most people should have been born with altruism, or care for humanity built in them. If you honestly don%26#039;t care and see no point, the most oblivious thing to do it kill yourself. I%26#039;m definitely not telling you to do, if anything you have to find your own point.

Find your place in the vastness of the universe and you have to be a certain that you%26#039;re ok with that. Because as you said, we%26#039;re nothing but a speak in the universe.
Reply:Most %26#039;causes%26#039; are BS. A lot of time and energy for nothing.

But even if you are too small to be important on a global scale, you should be important to yourself.

If you understand Darwin, you know that Life has exactly one test. It must reproduce before it dies.

%26quot;Why bother?%26quot; is part of this test. Every living thing you see will die in the end %26amp; yet for billions of years life has continued to bloom on Earth.

See, the real question is %26quot;Why not bother?%26quot; Seriously, have you got something better to do? This ornate and beautiful dance of form and energy we call life may be meaningless to the universe, but would it kill you to try a few steps?

Lighten up. Have a little fun. No one will know your name in a hundred years but so what?. You probably don%26#039;t know jack about your great grandmother, but if she hadn%26#039;t gotten naked and nasty with your great granddad, you wouldn%26#039;t have frends or family.

Get a job, find a mate, raise a few new humans for the next dance.

Unless of course you think it would be more fun to whine %26amp; mope.
Reply:Okay, say the end of the world is tomorrow. We all look back on our lives and ask the question %26#039;%26#039;What was the point?%26#039;%26#039;.

This doesn%26#039;t take much soul searching. We are all born, we have no choice in that matter. We all get a tiny sliver of time on Earth. We might aswell have a good time on it.
Reply:I would guess because we have to live here, and if things get worse it would become a vibe less cuaseless life while we were here.
Reply:Nice question. who cares if the earth goes %26quot;boom%26quot;? sure it will happen in the future, but can you seriously believe that there%26#039;s no point in making the world a better place while you%26#039;re here? There is a point, honey. and the point is that, during the time BEFORE the earth goes %26quot;boom%26quot;, trillions of lives are created. we should make it easier for ourselves and the others to be happy and healthy and enjoy theirs too. you should enjoy the precious time you have here and make this time precious for others. Enjoy every moment and use every other moment to help :]

so what if someone doesn%26#039;t support a cause? they can still help. they help by living. their life may make someone else%26#039;s life all the more better. if we don%26#039;t support a cause does that mean that we should stop living. thats what you implied. :\

hope i answered your question
